Introducing Sew Right

Sew Right began 27 years ago when two friends decided to create a place where they could share their love of beautiful fabrics with friends old and new. Our friendly, fun staff continues that tradition today. We share your love of quilting. We love to exchange ideas, enthusiasm, and know how. Our staff ranges in age from 70 to 17 and we reflect the interests and experience of all ages in between. Sewing, fabric, and great customer service are our passion!
We carry a wide selection of quilting cottons from Riley Blake, Moda, Michael Miller, Benartex, Maywood Studios and more.  In addition to the latest quilting tools and notions, we also support our stock of hemstitching and stitchery patterns with  DMC perle cotton and embroidery floss.

Another continuing Sew Right tradition is our schedule of sewing classes for adults and youth ages 8 and up. We are teaching our third generation of sew-ers, helping quilters share their passion with sons, daughters, grand-sons and grand-daughters.

We are conveniently located in the Evergreen Plaza at the mouth of Parley's Canyon, just two blocks from  I-80 East.  Our address is            2037 East 3300 South
Salt Lake City, Utah  84109.

We look forward to seeing you on the shop hop!

My Heritage Fabrics

Welcome to My Heritage Fabrics.  My name is Marlene Lewellyn and I have been in business since 2008.  Unlike other shop owners who always dreamed of owning a fabric store, I didn’t! Oh, I have always sewn, made the majority of my children’s clothes and some of my husband’s, and have always loved fabrics.  I grew up playing under Grandma’s quilts, as she always had one on the frames in her small, two-bedroom house.  So, I had a great appreciation and love for her handmade beauties.  At the time of her passing she was working on her 50th quilt for grandchildren—all hand quilted. She worked the farm, took care of her 11 children, quilted to make money and raised chickens to sell the eggs.  She was awesome.

I learned to hand quilt from her, my cousins and my mother, but had never pieced a quilt.  While my husband attended class at the War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, I took a class and made my first pieced quilt.  I fell in love with quilting, the whole ball of wax—piecing, hand quilting, etc.  Quilting was one thing I could do as we traveled around with the Army.

Locally owned, locally operated!

From 1997 to 2008 I was a Realtor.  First in Tennessee, then here in Ogden.  When it wasn’t fun any more I had to decide what to do since I was divorced and needed a job.  I toyed with opening a store after the JoAnn’s in the north part of Ogden closed.  The more I thought about it, the more appealing it became.  So, in September of 2008 My Heritage Fabrics opened its doors.  It has been such a great experience.  I love my customers.

In September of 2011 we expanded, moving to our current location inside Rainbow Gardens.  We are so lucky to be here!  You can come and eat in the Greenery, browse  Rainbow Gardens or Planet Rainbow, and then spend some quality time here with us.

I have a great staff of knowledgeable people who are friendly, know quilting and can help with many things.  They are:  Barbara Cook, Deanna Treadway, Evelyn Smullin and occasionally my sister LaWane Boltz and my daughter, Brooke Grama.  We offer great customer service.  We will look up items on the computer, find patterns and help you in any way we can.  We want My Heritage Fabrics to be a comfortable and fun experience when you are buying fabric.  It is easy because of you, our customers.  Every day I am amazed, grateful and overwhelmed with the generosity of quilters and sewers.

Every two months we highlight one customer and her quilts in a trunk show in our classroom.  During February and March we had the quilts of Dorene Parker.  What an inspiration!  Many ooohs and aaahs!  April and May the quilts have been made by Karen Phillips.  Again, great success with a totally different style of quilts. June and July we will show quilts made by Verla Hasler.  Everyone can get inspiration from the different styles and techniques.  I hope you can all come and see these quilts during the year.  What a fun thing this has been for us.

We look forward to having you visit during our “Summer Buzz.”  Here at My Heritage Fabrics we’ll be having a Hawaiian-good time! I can’t wait to see all the quilt blocks that will be given out by the different stores. I hope you are excited, too.

Please visit us any time here at the mouth of beautiful Ogden Canyon.  See you all soon!

Morganson Custom Frames & Sew Forth

Hi every one.  This is Kelly & Rebecca at Morganson's in Payson.  We are so glad to be a part of the Beehive Shop Hop.

Just a little bit about us...

We originally started out as a Custom Picture Framing shop.  About ten years ago, the fabric shop here in Payson closed.  Not knowing exactly what we were in for, we decided to add fabric to our business.  That is when Becky developed an interest in quilting.  (She had to!)  It has been a wonderful discovery of a talent she didn't know she had.  Since that time she has designed and published more than 100 patterns as well as a book with seven quilts and seven wonderfully delicious cakes to go with them.   We have also added long arm quilting to the services we offer.  I dare say we are probably the smallest quilt shop involved with the Beehive Shop hop.  We really appreciate those of you who make it all the way down to Payson to visit us.

One of the funnest things we do here at Morgansons is our monthly mystery quilt.  You can check out our blog at stitchesandsewforth.blogspot.com to learn more about it.

The Block Party we offer every other Saturday Morning is also popular with many of our customers.  We are currently working on "A Pioneer Journey" which is pictured below.

All of our block party and mystery quilts are original patterns that Becky has designed.  We will begin a new block party quilt in July.  More details will be posted on our blog as they become available.

We are busy developing new projects for the upcoming Summer Buzz.  Here is a peek at a few projects at the shop currently.

This is a great Jelly roll project.  The sailboats could be exchanged for flowers for a more feminine feel.

A very traditional double wedding ring quilt.  (Made easy with QuiltSmart.)

A raggedy version of the double wedding ring.  What a cute topper or baby girl quilt!

Look forward to seeing you soon!

Just Sew

Hi All!

This is Alice from Just Sew.  Linda and I are so excited about the Summer Buzz and the Beehive Shop Hop this year!  We would love to have you stop in and visit Just Sew. We have been open in Highland for almost four years.  We have a wonderful store made up of fabulous, fun fabric.  We love bright quilts and love to stock the latest modern fabric.  We also carry some Civil War prints and we have an aisle dedicated to the 1930's.  Many of our customers tell us that even though our shop is small, they can always find just what they are looking for when they come in.  We love being in the business of making quilters happy!

Our latest adventure has been to keep up with the growing trend to use solids in quilts, and we have been building our inventory of solids. In fact, our Block of the Month this year is made entirely of solids:

Whether you would like to browse a book or magazine to get inspiration, want advice on supplies for your latest project, or simply need a fabric fix, pull up a chair and stay a while. You'll be glad you did!
